5th Episode: Tack Sven!

Before I write about Sven's holiday in Italy, I've got to post here the last impossible coincidence I had when he was staying here.
In this week end I've got to say I haven't checked my mail that often, but on friday morning I wanted to write a mail to a professor to ask him when he planned to make exams.
The plan was like: I write him, he answers telling me when I can make his exam (hoping it's in the first weeks of July), and from monday, June 15th, I'll start studying seriously for his exam.
This plan run perfectly well until the second step, because the answer I've got was: "There's a last chance to make my exam before summer holidays, and it's on monday, next week (June, 15th), 9.30 am."
Panic.
Sven encouraged me, telling everxthing was going to be fine, I tried it: we went on sunday to Venice, and on the train I had a couple of hours to study what I could, I've set the alarm terribly early to take out of the books as much as I could.
Well, I tried it.
In the end I was the last on the exam's list, and when the other students were having the exam I had enough time to take Sven to the airport, come back to the university and spend another couple of hours in fear and drama.
But in the end Sven brought me luck, and I've got 30 e lode, the best mark.
Yuhuuuu!

Urgh!

At last we have received the results of the town elections, this morning: both our candidate Pasquino and his list have been muuuuuch less voted than what expected. The professor of the Bologna University received a bit less than 2% of the votes, while the list "Cittadini per Bologna" (Citizens for Bologna) arrived just to 1,77%, with less than 3800 votes. Personally I've received 13 votes, and it's more or less half of the votes I've thought until the last moment, and it means that -at least for the moment- my one month long political career is over.
Or maybe that the constituency isn't yet ready for me, who knows...

Yes, I'm alive

Yes, I'm alive, even if in these days I didn't write much on this blog. The real reason of this silence is the blog itself: moving from blogspot to wordpress was not so easy as I've thought...
But except that i've done many other things.
I've been a candidate in the last town elections for the Town Council and two of the nine District Councils of Bologna, and tonight we'll see the vote results.
I'm getting ready for Sven's arrive, on thursday afternoon, and I'm really curious, as well as very happy about that (by the way, his blog is on the list of links on the right side of this page) (but it's in swedish) (good luck!).
Lastly, I've started with the Coro da camera di Bologna the rehearsals for the A-flat major Mass by Schubert, D 678, that I've renamed "Travel-Sick-Mass". After the first time i've seen the score, i've looked for a video on the internet, just to hear how could it be, also because it's really easy to find things like this on youtube. But I couldn't find any video about this Mass. After four rehearsals I've understood why: every four or five beats Schubert changes tonality and, even if the Author writes always some "warning notes" in the orchestra score, the result sounds like a ferry trip on the English Channel. I'd suggest the bravest readers this link with the audio previews of this Mass. Try the Sanctus, for instance: in just four beats it goes from a F major played orchestra to the choir's start - F#, C#, A and F#.
I wish I could write a bit more, but i've got to log off, now. For the moment I promise I'll write a bit more until thursday. There are many other things I've got to tell you...

Let the dog solve his own problems...

Our dog has finally got a name!
The first we've chosen was Pixel, because the kennel had to name all puppies of the same litter with a name starting with P and we couldn't find anything better.
After having chosen the official name we agreed we couldn't name him that way, so in these first two weeks he's been with us we tried every name we could imagine: Polpletta (meatball), Platone (Plato), Tigre (Tiger), Ciochi, Poldo...
My brother suggested Randall, but Elisa objected that it sounded like the name of an Ikea bookshelf. I've proposed Portos, but my sister told that Portos is a name that only a gay owner could give to his dog (and i still don't see where the problem lies). My mother said two or three times that she liked Brezel, but her proposal was just ignored.
Tuesday the dog was fighting with a shopping bag and my sister noticed he was playing with a sales check too. On the back side of that check there was the name of the company that makes paper rolls for this checks, and of course the name of that company is Pixel

Just one question

After Ginko, I'd never thought we were going to have another dog at home so soon, and instead of what I could think, here is a first picture of... of... err... yes, i forgot: he hasn't got yet a real name. The kennel recorded his name as Pixel di Casa Marzia, but we cannot just call him this way while he runs here and there...
Anyway, here you can see a first picture of Pixel di Casa Marzia.

And now the question: how can we call him? Write your proposals in the replys, and we will consider them!

4th Episode: Sammanträffande²

Both me and Sven thought that this was a very funny story, and so I decided to write it on my blog.
Meanwhile Sven started to follow l'Angolo dello Zaùrdo, but I was writing everything in italian, and so he tried to translate the page using some online translators. We were speaking on skype about how surreal these translations can be, and I mentioned a swedish blog I was trying to translate that way, with the same results.

Short note: this blog belongs to a tourist guide I've met some years ago in Bologna, while he was learning italian for his job. Now Carl, this guy, studies in Örebro, a little university town lost in Central Sweden's woods.

Sven asked me about where this blog was, and I wrote the link.

Sven: Oh my God! Maybe I know him...
me: You what??
Sven: Yes, isnt't he from Örebro?
me: Yes, now he studies there...
Sven: I'm pretty sure I know him... now we've lost contacts, but... yes, I'm sure, I know him.

3rd Episode: Sammanträffande | Coincidences

When I realized that Sven the Swede wanted to come to Bologna, I suggested to find some days in June, because I knew my cousin was planning to visit us in July, and in those days we would have of course with her aaaall the time (we're an italian family).
So everything has been organized, all the reservations made, tickets bought.
But of course something had to be go wrong, so I was told that our Mobilization Day should be June 11th, and so we would have arrange things, preparing cliché-like italian family dinners, and so on...
Well, try to guess when is Sven arriving to Bologna?
Right on June, 11th.
